Programme Launch Event, St Nicholas Centre Roofgarden
The festival’s programme launch was a great way to celebrate the lead up to the festival! With just a few weeks to go, the launch took place on Saturday, 4th June at the recently renovated roofgarden on the St Nicholas shopping centre. The space has been revived by Aberdeen Inspired, and has been used already for the Jazz Festival earlier this year. It’s hoped that the space offers some solitude and colour amongst the granite of Aberdeen city centre, and it’s already proving popular for people as a lunchtime spot.
The aim of our launch event this year was #SpreadTheWord, as we have found through our market research that many of our audience members found out about past festival performances through word of mouth and encouraging friends and family to come along with them to festival performances. We want to continue and strengthen this tradition, to encourage new audiences.
Throughout the afternoon we had great performances from the ACE wellbeing choir, music from the North East Folk Collective traditional music group and members of the Aberdeen Youth Jazz Orchestra.
