The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland is sad to announce, that due to unforeseen circumstances, conductor Thierry Fischer will no longer be able to join NYOS Symphony Orchestra for its 2017 Summer Tour. We are however, delighted to announce Michael Francis as Thierry’s stand-in. NYOS Symphony Orchestra worked with Michael during its 35th anniversary year in 2014, developing a special rapport and gaining four and five-star reviews throughout the tour. We look forward to renewing this relationship and introducing our audiences to some fantastic new music and some rarely heard gems.
Michael and the Orchestra will be joined on tour by world-famous percussionist, Colin Currie as soloist this summer. Colin is a solo and chamber artist at the peak of his powers, championing new music at the highest level. Even from his earliest years with The National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, Colin forged a pioneering path in creating new works for percussion.
Colin will perform the Scottish premiere of Andrew Norman’s Percussion Concerto Switch.
