Aberdeen & North East of Scotland Music Festival is Aberdeen’s oldest and most original music, drama and dance festival and takes place annually in June. It was founded in 1909 by Stanford Terry, a professor of History at Aberdeen University, who wanted to encourage music making and performance in the North-East of Scotland. The festival adopts the motto Sir Henry Walford Davies used, which was ‘’not to gain a prize or defeat a rival, but to pace one another on the road to excellence’’. The festival is volunteer run and relies on entry fees, fundraising and sponsorship to continue to offer performance opportunities to musicians and singers across the North East and beyond. Full information on who will be performing will be available in July 2016. You can visit their website here.
