Christopher Napier (UK)

Aberdeen International Youth Festival (AIYF)

Christopher is a Banjo Ukulele player who plays in the style of legendary wartime entertainer George Formby. He has performed at numerous venues around the UK since the age of 8, delighting audiences with songs such as ‘Leaning on a Lamppost’ and ‘When I’m Cleaning Windows,’ made famous by the loveable Lancastrian.

Aged 9 he became the youngest ever winner of the ITV1 show ‘Stars in their eyes Kids’ in 2006, where his performance of another of Formby’s classics ‘Little Stick of Blackpool Rock’ won the hearts of the nation. Christopher has since continued pleasing audiences with his thoroughly entertaining performances and he has also appeared with British comedian Frank Skinner, who incorporates the ukulele into his own act.

Christopher is a self- proclaimed fan of George Formby who was born in 1904 and is still considered to be one of Britain’s most popular and well-loved entertainers, recording over 200 songs and making 22 films throughout his career spanning from the 1930s until his death in 1961.

Now aged 19, Chris will be making his debut at AIYF 2016 and is looking forward to bringing to the audiences a genuine taste of Ukulele music.
