AIYF Welcome Concert


For the 2nd year our annual event that welcomes International visitors to Aberdeen and the North-East of Scotland will be held in the iconic Beach Ballroom. In the presence of Aberdeen’s Lord Provost and open to the public and all of our participants expect some excellent music, song and dance from home and abroad along with the singing of the anthems of the countries represented at this year’s event which include Morocco, Russia, Jamaica, Spain, The Ivory Coast, Iceland, India, China, Norway, Brazil, Zimbabwe and USA.

Up Close & Musical: Students from North of Scotland School of Music (NESMS)


North East of Scotland Music School A Centre for Musical Excellence The North East of Scotland Music School is a renowned centre of music tuition.  Located in Aberdeen City Centre, it serves the whole of the North East of Scotland including the Highlands and Islands. Founded in 1975 by Dorothy Hately, NESMS provides promising musicians with:

Flautist Tim Kadlec returns to AIYF as a soloist with repertoire that includes music from Bach, Debussy and composers from his routes. Sharing the concert will be singer Daria Trofimova who brings a mix of classical and traditional music from her homeland.

Theatre Double Bill: Foreign Language School (Russia) & Variant (Ukraine)

The Foreign Language School use theatre to help the students to learn English and they are performing their own version of the Shakespearian classic Romeo and Juliet. Variant bring a simple piece of storytelling, performed in English, which tells of Mauno and how he struggles when moving to a city to remain a good person.

Choral Concert: RCS Voices & Hamrahlidarkorinn (Iceland)

RCS voices is a chamber ensemble featuring many of the best student voices from the conservatoire based in Glasgow. Hamrahlídarkórinn also make a welcome return visit to AIYF and both choirs are sure to enchant with their mix of music that will perfectly fit the Cathedral’s ambiance and acoustics beautifully.
