Aberdeen International Youth Festival has established an internship scheme to offer valuable experience of working within the events and performing arts arena.

Positions available:

Marketing
This placement will ideally suit someone currently studying arts marketing or a recent marketing graduate. You will assist in marketing the festival including coordinating and distributing print; posters, leaflets and programmes, writing press releases, answering public inquiries and updating information on for the website.

Administration
This would suit someone wanting to gain all round experience of arts management. Working alongside the Festival's Administrator you will be involved in answering public inquiries, managing schedules, staff appointments, contracts, liaison with venues etc.

Box Office Liaison
This would suit someone wanting to gain all round experience of arts and box office management. Main duties involve liaison with Aberdeen Box Office and with Festival staff, manage ticketing requirements and front of house arrangements for every festival event.

All placements will involve some general administration and the willingness to "muck in" is vital. Evening and weekend work will be required during the Festival itself, and at occasional events beforehand.

Applicants will need:
Good all round level of education, preferably to degree level.
Excellent administrative abilities.
Good communication skills
PC skills, particularly Word, Excel, (Quark, Photoshop and web editing will be needed for some positions, but training can be given.)
Teamwork skills and lots of enthusiasm

Successful candidates will be Disclosure checked.

Starting date: June / July by arrangement.
End date: 13 August 2008


Placements are unpaid, however we can offer a daily travel and meal allowance, and full board at Hillhead Halls of Residence during the Festival (30th July - 11 August 2008).
