GYO brings together talented school musicians with young musicians of post-school age and offers the opportunity to perform with international musicians, to work with leading conductors, recently Julian Clayton (Director NYOS) and Randal Swiggum (Conductor, Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra, USA) and to be part of the Aberdeen International Youth Festival. William Conway will conduct the orchestra in August 2008.

The orchestra will meet in Aberdeen on weekends in March, April, May, June and during the Aberdeen International Youth Festival in August.
